19 teams are coming in for the 5th&Final Leg of Tenzor International Cup – J/70 Open Winter Series 2023-2024

The Tenzor International Cup – J/70 Open Winter Series 2023-2024 continues to be a huge success for its first edition held in Turkey.

Run every month from December 2023 till April 2024 the Series has become one of the key events in J/70 class hosted by Tenzor Sailing Club Turkey in Anthaven resort, Bodrum.

The large fleet 19 boats lined up in the final leg.

«The upcoming regatta is very promising, commented Burak Zengin, CEO of Tenzor Sailing Club Turkey - organizer of the race. We will not see some boats that have attended previous stages, but many new teams are coming and therefore the fight will be very interesting».

Regatta will be held from 12th till 14th of April.

For the top-3 of overall – Tenzor Team, “Bogatyrs” and Dolce Vita teams, who are listed with a minimum gaps, it will be important 3 race days to determine the winner.

"We have already spent two full training days here in Aspat Bay, explained the tactician of Tenzor Team, Daniil Odintsov. The practice races went very well, as a good strong wind blew steadily. According to the forecast for the regatta, we are also expecting a good north wind up to 20 knots, and on Sunday more than 20 knots. We are getting ready for interesting races and will do our best to win the stage and the Series”.

The regular participants of the tournament – Hubex, Orient JR and Eyed Mushrooms teams could not miss the final battles of Tenzor International Cup Winter Series.

Among the new rivals there are several experienced teams, including Eker Sailing Team who is a real pride of Turkey, national champions in various series and regattas, achieved success in international competitions racing in the Melges 32 and J/70 classes. Also there are such strong crews as “AtomTavatuy” team – two-times world champions in the Melges 32 class, skippered by Pavel Kuznetsov, and “Sunflower” of Victor Fogelson who has been the winners of international regattas in Cannes, Antibes, Monaco, Cascais and is the two-time winners of the Nations Cup in the Dragon class, made it 3rd in the European Championship. Also the Phantom Sailing Team of Konstantin Bespalko – the participant of the 600-miles regatta Middle Sea Race 2022 and the offshore regatta Fastnet in the class "Mini" Double hand has good chances to reach the high positions in the ranking.

The newcomers – Goodstream Sailing Team representing the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club, two crews of Kinetica Music and Spectrum Sailing Team will get the useful experience on J/70 boats in large fleet.

The Corinthian division includes the boats of Ayaz JR, skippered by Arif Ayaz, Azzurro team, skippered by the young Nese Ozkan and ASPAT, led by Mehmet Okay.

No doubt, that the 5th and Final leg of Tenzor International Cup – J/70 Open Winter Series is going to be particularly rich in the variety of sailing teams on the water, with the mix of professionals, sailing legends and former Olympians and amateurs sailors.
