The judging panel of the stage 2 of the Tenzor International Cup – J/70 Open Winter Series 2023/2024 will include judges and umpires from Croatia, Turkey and Germany.
The principal judge of the competition, Can Giray, is one of the key specialists in the Turkish Sailing Federation. He is currently working as National Race Officer for the Turkish Sailing Federation and has taken part in many centerboard, one design and yacht races in Turkey. In addition to various sailing races, Can is the principal race officer in J/70 class races in Turkey for about 6 years.
Some of the major events that he participated as Principal Race Officer are Marmaris International Yacht Races, Gocek International Yacht Races, Farr 40 Turkish Championship, Farr 40 European Championship, J/70 Turkish Championship, Turkish Navy Cup International Offshore Yacht Race, Turkish Coast Guard International Yacht Race,Turkish Sailing Federation Optimist Championship.
The main umpire of the second stage of the Series is Neven Baran from Croatia – the high-level specialist who served sailing sport in various roles as sailor, coach, judge and administration in his homeland and abroad. Neven is a World Sailing International Judge and Umpire and regularly judging since 1993 at all levels of fleet, match and team racing. Was on the umpire team of America’s Cup in Auckland 2002 and Valencia 2007. He served as member of World Sailing Committees for racing rules and race officials related matters and is World Sailing seminar Instructor for International Judges and currently forms part of International Judges and Match Race subcommittees and Sailors Categorization Commission. Serves worldwide on juries as an International Judge and is umpiring fleet, match and team race events as an International Umpire. Served on the Jury at Sydney, London and Rio de Janeiro Olympics and was rules coach for Slovenia at Olympics in Athens, and for Croatia in Qingdao, Tokyo and will be in Paris. His recent involvement is in development of fleet umpiring in Yacht Club Monaco, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Sailing Champions League, German Sailing League and the newest Star Sailors League.
The German umpire Jules Tronquet and Turkish umpires who successfully worked on Stage 1 will assist Can and Neven on the upcoming regatta.
