Gaswar team inspired to come back in TIC regattas for winter season

GASWAR team skippered by Alexander Romanov will compete in the TIC 2024-2025 series with his crew members - Evgeny Kuznetsov, Ilya Shidlovsky and Alexander Gaidaenko.

Alexander Romanov (helmsman of the GASWAR team): "I am sure that this Series, thanks to the smartly chosen location, will become a real «sailing mecca» and will gather an increasing number of sailing teams. There are a lot of advantages here: firstly, the possibility of direct flights to the competition venue, secondly, this is the southern part of Turkey and it is warm here even in the winter months with wonderful waters and wind conditions, and finally, the proximity of the hotel and boat parking, the presence of several restaurants and a supermarket in the immediate vicinity - convenient infrastructure and comfort! Last season, we only had a chance to participate in the 4th stage, but it was this series that inspired me to purchase a J/70 boat together with Evgeny Kuznetsov. After the purchase we started participating in all Turkish regattas in the J/70 class and have already registered for all stages of TIC Winter Series 2024-2025! On the eve of the start, it's a little premature to talk about our goals, but it's always interesting for us to impose competition and try to show best results, that's what the name of our team is about – GASWAR! Sailing for me is a society of like-minded people in love with the sea, wind and sports, I like to work in different positions in crews, so it's better to understand the common situation on the boat. For several years I studied at Viktor Pilgunov's school on the "Laser", before the pandemic I raced on the "Bavaria" in Croatia, Greece and Italy as a bowman/boatman, for the last few years I have enjoyed racing on the Farr 46 #Magic Twelve Sailing Team. This year we took 1st place at the Lorima Cup and 2nd place at the Navi Cup Istanbul-Gechik in IRC0, and of course, from this season our calendar is full of regattas in the J/70 class."
